Perfect Your Rest Day

We live in a world that’s always telling us to do more—work harder, push further, keep going. So when it comes to rest days, they can sometimes feel unproductive or even unnecessary. But rest is not a step back. It’s actually an important part of moving forward.

When you’re trying to make positive changes in your life, it’s easy to get caught up in progress. You focus on goals, routines, and results. But what often gets forgotten is the need to pause. Rest days give your body and mind the time they need to recover, reset, and recharge.

But rest isn’t just about stopping.

What many people miss is that rest is also a chance to enjoy yourself. When we focus too much on progress, we can lose the joy in the journey. Taking time to slow down helps bring that joy back.

For me, a perfect rest day includes a little “day-cation” to the beach. Getting by the sea is a great way to switch off from daily routines and pressures. Coastal walking is one of my favourite things to do—it’s gentle, refreshing, and gives you space to breathe and think.

I also love spending my rest days doing something fun with my daughter. We like to try new activities and just enjoy being together. It’s our chance to be big kids for the day—laughing, exploring, and making memories.

Rest days don’t have to mean doing nothing. They’re about doing what makes you feel good. Whether that’s relaxing, moving gently, or having fun with the people you love, it all counts.

So next time you take a rest day, don’t feel guilty. Enjoy it. Slow down, have fun, and remind yourself why you started in the first place.

Because sometimes, the best progress comes from taking a break.
